"Clear insights have come to you from your Lord. Whoever sees, it is for himself; whoever is blind, it is against himself. And I am not a keeper over you."
بَصَآئِر — the plural of baṣīra: sight, insight. The word was treated at al-Jāthiya 45/20 (hādhā baṣāʾiru li'l-nās); I rely on that treatment.
And the symmetry of the sentence must be recorded: fa-man abṣara fa-li-nafsih wa man ʿamiya fa-ʿalayhā. Two opposite outcomes in the same verbal field, in the same pattern.
وَمَآ أَنَا۠ عَلَيْكُم بِحَفِيظٍ — the limit of responsibility. A table of this limit covering seven sūras was set up at al-Qaṣaṣ 28/56; al-Anʿām adds one more link: ḥafīẓ (keeper).
(105) — taṣrīf (turning a thing about and about in the telling) was treated at al-Aḥqāf 46/27 and al-Jāthiya 45/5. And variant readings of darasta (you have studied / you have been taught) are transmitted; I record this without giving the name of an imam.
(107) — and the same word (ḥafīẓ) occurs a second time three verses later. This is a repetition that can be verified within the sūra.
