al-Furqān 25:30

"The Messenger said: 'My Lord! My people have left this Qurʾān abandoned.'"

مَهْجُور — root ه-ج-ر: to part, to abandon, to leave and go. Hijra is from the same root. The root was treated at al-Muzzammil 73/10 (wa'hjurhum hajran jamīlā) and at al-Muddaththir 74/5. I do not repeat it here.

The word's use here is worth recording, and two readings of it are transmitted:

Both readings are transmitted; I do not impose a preference.

And the one to whom the complaint is addressed must be recorded: the sentence is spoken from the Prophet's mouth, to his Lord. Not to people. I record this as an observation: in the sūra the objections (4-8) were voiced openly by people; the answer here is directed upward, as a complaint.
